What is a Network?

You probably have some idea of what a network is but you need a clearer understanding. A network in its simplest term is a

'anything that enables two or computers communicate with each other and with other devices' (1).

Another definition which explains what a network is states that a network is

'a comunication system that enables users to share computer equipment, application software, data, voice and video transmission. Networks can link users who are in the same office or in different continents' (2).

A network is a simple as the above definition. It is how method in which 2 or more computers communicate to enable them to share resources.

There are different types of Networks available. the Local Area Network (LAN), The Wide Area Network (WAN), The Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) and the latest network the Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN).
