Network Topologies

Network topology is 'the physical layout of a network, combined with its logical characteristics. The physical layout is like an overhead picture or a map of how the cabling is laid in an office or building' (8)

In this section we will be looking into three different network topologies. The Star, The Ring and The Bus. Each topology has its own advantages and disadvantages and these have been highlighted in each of the section. There is no one best network topology, however the Star and the Ring have been seen as more likely topologies which would be used by businesses, schools and univeristies.
