will develop six living "house museums" as showcases of ethnic and cultural crafts
and traditions preserving and celebrating the transmission of the older culture
and as a stimulus to the new. Representing Tower Hamlets' principal cultural traditions
- Bengali, Chinese, Cockney, Jewish, Somali and Afro-Caribbean. In collaboration
with the Half Moon Theatre, Continuuuum Arts will turn the first floor of the
Lotus Chinese Floating Restaurant into an interactive teahouse, with stalls and
live performances depicting the story of the London's earliest China Town, based
near the docks in Limehouse. | |
