Ethiopian Wildlife & Natural History Society
This page contains information about the Ethiopian Wildlife Society of which I am a life member. This is not an official EWNHS home page
The Ethiopian Wildlife and Natural History Society (EWNHS) was established in 1966 with the original aim of
increasing public awareness of the need to conserve Ethiopia's natural resources, animals, plants and the
environment in particular. The society is a non-profit making association whose purposes are: to study
and promote the interests of the fauna, flora and natural environment of Ethiopia; to disseminate the
knowledge gained; and to support legislation to protect these resources.
In an attempt to meet these aims the society holds monthly indoor and outdoor meetings, details of
which are circulated to members in the monthly news letter. The society publishes a scientific journal,
WALIA, and produces an educational magazine, AGAZEN, in English and Amharic.
The society welcomes articles on any aspect of wildlife
and natural history in either English for publication in WALIA or English/Amharic for AGAZEN.
Membership details are available from the Honorary Secratary:
