BIOGRAPHICAL PROFILE

 

Derick Boyd, M.A. (Cantab.), Ph.D. is a graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge University, and Birkbeck College, University of London. He was a 1987/88 Fulbright-Hays visiting Senior Scholar in the Department of Economics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. He taught at the University of the West Indies 1981-91. He was a contributing author to Adjustment With a Human Face, ed. Cornia, Jolly and Stewart, Clarendon Press, London, and author of Economic Management, Income Distribution and Poverty in Jamaica, Praeger, New York. He worked as Chief Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Jamaica, Edward Seaga in the development and implementation of a macroeconomic programme of financial and structural adjustment. He has worked as a consultant for various agencies including, UNDP, ILO, UNICEF, the Inter American Development Bank (IDB), USAID, the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the United Kingdom’s ODA. He has published in economics in the areas of econometrics, financial economics, macroeconomics and poverty. He is currently a senior lecturer in the Department of Economics, University of East London, England.
