

Travelling to the University (Barking Campus)
The Barking campus is 3 miles north of the River Thames and
10 miles east of Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. As shown (red square)
on the London Transport Buses map below, we are near the junction where
Longbridge road (A124) crosses the Lodge Avenue.
By Public Transport:
- Barking Station: Barking campus is 1½ miles north east
of Barking British Rail (London Fenchurch Street Line) and London Underground
(Hammersmith & City Line and District Line) station. Barking station
is 15 minutes from Fenchurch Street station. There are regular bus service
between the Barking station and the campus. Alternatively outside the station
is a taxi cab rank which normally has two or three taxis waiting. Details
of buses from Barking station are given below:
- Bus No : 5 - Destination: Becontree Heath
- Bus No: 87- Destination: Romford
- Bus No:387-Destination: Little Heath
- Goodmayes Station (British Rail): The Barking campus is 1 mile
south of Goodmayes British Rail station (London Liverpool Street Line).
On leaving the station turn left and walk down Goodmayes Road then Goodmayes
Lane or take the 387 bus.
- Bus No:387-Destination: Creekmouth.
By Air:
- London City Airport is about a 20 minute (6 mile) taxi ride
away.
- Heathrow Airport is about 1½ hours via the London Underground
and is about 27 miles by car.
- Gatwick Airport is about an hour and a half away via British
Rail to Victoria and the London Underground to Barking. By car the 55 mile
journey takes about one hour.
- Stansted Airport is a 40 minute (30 mile) taxi ride via the
M11 motorway.
- Luton Airport is a one hour (50 mile) taxi ride via the M1 motorway.
The campus is approximately ten miles away from the London City Airport.
By Road:
- From the North: Take the M11 southbound. From the M11 take the
A406 North Circular Road East London (left hand) exit. From the A406 take
the A124 signposted to Barking. Stay on the A124 signposted Romford for
2 miles following the signs at the road junctions for the University of
East London Barking Campus. The Campus is on the A124 Longbridge Road opposite
the junction with Goodmayes Lane.
- From the East via the A12: Take the A12 towards London. The
best turnoff is left onto the B177 (Barley Lane) southbound. At the junction
with Green Lane turn right and immediately left at the mini roundabout
down Goodmayes Lane. The campus is 2½ miles south of the A12 turnoff.
- From the East via the A13: The best exit from the A13 is 8½
miles west of the M25 and the Dartford river crossing. Avoid the flyover
and take the exit marked A123 Barking/Ilford or (A124) Becontree Heath.
Stay on Lodge Avenue for 1 mile and turn left at the mini roundabout, signposted
University of East London. The campus entrance is about 30 yards on your
left.
- From London via the A13 : The campus is 10 miles (30 minutes)
east of Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. Taking the A13, go over the
Canning Town flyover and the next two flyovers and take the exit at the
fourth flyover signposted A124 Becontree Heath. Take the second exit at
the roundabout (Lodge Avenue) which is signposted University of East London.
Stay on Lodge Avenue for 1 mile and turn left at the mini roundabout, signposted
University of East London. The campus entrance is about 30 yards on your
left.
